A Tribute to Nancy McCalla, NM Works –
most talented and gifted Jewelry Artist/Designer.
Nancy and I met while studying Metals and Design
under Julie Jerman-Melka years ago. She was a
kind soul to everyone she’d meet and tenacious in
her engineering of designs. I recall clearly when she
rolled out her to-be-signature piece -- “Hoop Dancer”.
She worked many hours to achieve the perfect
balance needed and her end result was ingenious
and so beautiful. Following our education time in the
studio with Julie, we teamed up together to roll out
our designs in our individual businesses but uniting
as a team to do festivals and shows. Nancy and I
traveled and laughed LOUD and experienced memories
together that I will cherish and carry with me in my
heart ALWAYS. She loved designing from her heart for
Wyoming’s many treasures. Each piece carried great
significance and meaning.
To my dear friend, amazing and talented Jewelry
Artist/Designer, I’ll always remember you and be
forever grateful for the beauty and times we shared. I
miss you every day! RIP in peace Nancy
NM Works is owned by local artist Nancy McCalla. Nancy is a Wyoming native whose work is a direct reflection of Wyoming's western heritage and amazing natural beauty.
Nancy and I met as metal working students studying under renowned metalsmith Julie Jerman-Melka. As students, Nancy and I had the opportunity to offer our work for sale at a Master Gardeners Conference. This experience was the first time Nancy and I teamed up in selling our work and we had a great time.
I then sponsored Nancy as a featured artist at one of my "Martini's and All that Jazz" trunk shows. This particular show cemented both our friendship and professional realtionship and we have been a team ever since.
